Local Autumnal Scenes

Parish Council

Women's Institute:

 Parish Council:

¨       Now that summer is coming, villagers are able to spend more time outdoors and the grass is growing, the Council would ask, where-ever possible, for noisy machinery not to be used on Sundays. Please let us have one day a week relatively peaceful.

¨       If you take your dog through the Allotments, will you please keep it on a lead. Much damage can be done in a short time by wayward animals.

Coffee Mornings: Many thanks to everyone who has hosted, helped at or attended the coffee mornings. These began in order to raise money for the cleaning of the windows in the church. The cleaning has been temporarily delayed because of the need to do other necessary work first, such as re-plastering, rewiring and redecorating. This would obviously make the windows dirty again if we had them cleaned before this work is carried out. We hope to be in a position to have the windows cleaned later this year. In the meantime, we plan continue the coffee mornings, as they provide a valuable and enjoyable social get-together. Any money raised from them will go towards the church repair fund.

Parish Council:

Dogs: The Council has received several complaints recently about the fouling of footpaths by dogs. It would like to remind all dog owners that to allow this is an offence as well as offensive, and a potential health hazard.

Allotment Footpath: The path between Pound Lane and Woodperry is not a bridle-way and should not be used by riders or drivers.

Waste Disposal:

Please check with the notice boards at the Shop and Village Hall nearer the time

Newsletter:  For those who are on email Bobbie Stormont would appreciate any future newsletter items to be sent using this method to tom.bobbie@virgin.net. Thanks.

A Book About Otmoor

The Otmoor Group has marked the Millennium with the publication of a book entitled 'Otmoor 2000 AD - A Reflection On An English Landscape & Its Community'. It is a fascinating book about many different aspects of Otmoor, and all the authors live or work around the moor. This 128 page paperback (including 16 pages of coloured illustrations and maps) is priced £8, and copies are available from Bruce Tremayne at the Old Rectory, Charlton-on-Otmoor.
